Garbage is a Scottish-US rock group formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1994. The band consists of Duke Erikson, Shirley Manson (former lead vocalist of Angelfish), Steve Marker, and Butch Vig (who had made his name as a producer, including Nirvana's album, Nevermind). Garbage released a string of increasingly successful singles in 1995–1996, culminating in the hit Stupid Girl. Their debut album, Garbage, was an unexpected smash, selling over 4 million copies and reaching double platinum status in the UK, USA and Australia. |
