Han spiller bluesguitar, som var han født og opvokset i Mississippi-deltaet. John Mayer er damernes darling og mændenes helt - og en storfavorit i Danmark. 'Battle Studies' (Sony Music) er det nyeste udspil fra John Mayer - albummet er hans fjerde hele studiealbum - og er som altid fyldt med stærke numre, vellyd og stor variation. 'Who Says' er den charmerende, akustiske startsingle, men Mayer's bluesspade er tydelig på Robert Johnson's 'Crossroads'.
John Mayer har mange andre talenter: Han er en begavet og morsom skribent, han har en mere end veludviklet sans for design og laver bl.a. selv sine albumcovers, han er 'grøn' og gør noget ved det med f.eks. en turnébus, der kører på biobrændsel, og har desuden sin egen velgørenhedsorganisation 'Back To You'.
Når John Mayer kommer til Danmark til sommer, er det lige knapt to år siden, han fyldte Falkoner Teater. Desuden har han tidligere givet koncerter i Pumpehuset ('02), KB Hallen ('03) og Vega ('04). -R-
