Originalmente formados en 1998, en Nueva York, Metric está actualmente establecido en Toronto, Ontario. La banda está formada por Emily Haines (voz y sintetizadores), James Shaw (guitarra), Josh Winstead (bajo) y Joules Scott-Key (batería).
