A Tribe Called Quest fue un exitoso grupo de rap estadounidense de los años 90, originalmente formado en Queens, New York, en 1988. El grupo estaba formado por Q-Tip (Kamal Fareed), Phife Dawg (Malik Taylor) y Ali Shaheed Muhammad. El cuarto miembro, Jarobi White, solo estuvo presente en el primer disco. Q-Tip y Phife crecieron juntos en Queens, y conocieron a Muhammad en el instituto. El grupo comenzó siendo parte de Native Tongues Posse, un colectivo de artistas de rap, antes de alcanzar el éxito con A Tribe Called Quest, sobre todo tras la edición del disco The Low End Theory, en 1991. |
